Course in in terrible shape. If you are off the uncut, goose poop filled beat-up fairways you are playing from a cow pasture. Dirt, bare spots, crabgrass, rocky unkept sand traps. No clubhouse or amenities. No senior rate on Fridays ? Guess I'm not a senior on Friday. Go up the Meadowbrook to Eisenhower a much better bargain ! Or save your money and get an ice-cream across the street at Marvel. This course is not worth the $65.

Honestly. The ladies at the counter couldn’t be more rude. Also. No carts? You can’t do “cart path only”? I made a reservation last night. No mention of “no carts”. I got an email confirmation. So they have my contact info. Someone should have called me to update “no carts”. And then just so rude about it. Closed on Wednesdays!?? No other course does this. I used to love this course. The people who run it are trash.
The Staff is crazy good at their jobs and have taken (by shear force of will and sweat) this seaside gem from an honest 6/10 to an 8.5 /10... AND GIVEN THE next round of Club House and Fairway improvements.. LGC WILL BE AMONG THE PREMIRE LI GC's ... Facts!
I had high expectations for this course, but as we see all to often the people hired to maintain public courses are ‘connected’ to someone and thus really don’t care about the condition. The only good thing I can say is the greens roll true but now clearly need to be airated as they are getting spongy. The course is over run by geese and thus there is goose poop everywhere, and the flies bite you constantly even on a very windy day. The fairways are in very poor shape which is the direct result of a sup that is either lazy or has no clue on how to maintain a course. The bunkers are in very poor condition so don’t use nice clubs. The layout in the middle of the course is very dangerous so keep your head on a swivel. For $50 walking weekday is way too much. I can see if your a resident and can play it for $20.
Played on a Saturday at noon. Weather was great and the round was only 4.5 hours. Pretty good pace for NY public golf. Conditions were solid, a few patchy areas here and there but in places you shouldn't hit the ball to begin with. Clubhouse under renovation right now - no food or alcohol available - but check in process still smooth. Layout and design is exciting with many scorable holes and also some very challenging ones (16). Flat and easy walk. Would go back.
Greens are very good..could be much faster...so yes slow
The course is LIDO..town of Hempstead..over 40 years I've known..and basic public course that could be great if money went into fairways and rough..clubhouse closed..
New clubhouse one of these days after they tare down the existing..past due already (June '23)..blue tees are challenging..good luck on #16 if you don't know it.
Course was too packed to play but it was a holiday weekend. Driving range is too short for drivers, irons only. Only option is for small ball buckets (45 or so) so if you want to be at the range for a bit you'll need to refill once or twice.
Played here for the first time. Difficult course for a hacker. Beautiful views of the bay. A
